A "Little" about the farm
If you’re here, you probably care where your food comes from. We do too.
Little Stoney Acres is a small, family-run farm right here in Ontario. We raise our cattle the slow way, with care and attention, because we believe that’s the only way to do it right. No shortcuts. No rushing.
We know our animals. We watch them grow. And we make sure they’re treated well every step of the way — because that respect shows up in the beef.
So... Why Piedmontese?
Piedmontese isn’t your average beef. It’s a rare breed that originates in the Piedmont mountain ranges of Italy, and honestly, once you try it, it’s hard to go back.
This cattle is naturally built differently. The meat is lean, tender, and fine-grained — not because of anything we add or do, but because that’s just how the breed genetically is. We like to think of them as a "body-builder" type cow compared to the rest. If you look at the pictures, you will see how evident the double-muscling is; this is caused by a rare inactive myostatin-2 gene and as a result, produces a leaner, richer and more protein-packed bite. You get great texture and real beef flavour, without the heaviness.
It’s the kind of beef that feels satisfying without feeling too much.
A healthier cut of beef
One thing we hear a lot is this: “I feel better after eating this beef.”
Piedmontese is naturally lower in fat and cholesterol than conventional beef, but still high in protein and iron. That makes it a great option if you enjoy red meat but want something a little cleaner and easier on your body.
It’s beef you can feel good about cooking for your family — and eating yourself.
That's all great, but... what does it taste like?
The best way to describe Piedmontese beef is clean and honest.
It’s tender without being greasy. Rich without being heavy. The flavour is there, but it doesn’t overpower. And because it’s lean, it really shines when you keep things simple.
A hot pan, a little salt, and some care is all it needs. Let the meat do the talking.
